PhD in Educational Administration and Supervision

The Saint Louis University's doctorate in educational leadership is a long-established professional degree that prepares executive-level educational leaders. Entrants already hold an advanced degree, either a master's or a specialist credential, in this or a related area. The program requires between thirty-eight and forty-four credits of coursework, a written comprehensive exam, an oral exam and a doctoral project, with fewer credits for those entering with a specialist degree. Courses follow a three-year cycle and align with state requirements, including those for superintendent certification. Teams complete the project on a problem of practice, and each member writes an individual analysis. A concentration in Catholic education looks at spiritual leadership, the calling of those who run Catholic schools, and the funding and legal questions that affect private school administration.
