MA/MS in Religious Education

The theology faculty at Saint Louis University teams up with the School of Education to prepare religious educators for parish work or theology teaching in Catholic schools. The degree introduces the main fields of theology and adds teaching preparation and practical experience. The plan spans two years and thirty-six credits. Fifteen credits, among them a three-credit practicum, come from the School of Education, and the other twenty-one come from theological studies. Students can use theology resources like the Vatican Film Library, the Jesuit sources archives and the Divinity Library, and may join interdisciplinary work with other campus centers. Graduates are prepared for ministry in parishes and for classroom teaching of theology in Catholic schools. The two-year course of study mixes theology classes with teacher preparation, so graduates leave ready for both religious instruction and classroom practice.
