AA/AS in Social Sciences, General

This Santa Ana College Liberal Arts emphasis studies the concepts, theories and methods of the social and behavioral sciences. Students learn about themselves and others as members of a larger society. Discussion topics encourage critical thinking about how people have responded to their societies and how social groups operate. The emphasis may interest students planning careers in anthropology, child development, criminal justice, government, law, history, family therapy, political science, psychology, social work, sociology, teaching or urban planning. This is an associate-level program at a public community college, so it can serve students who plan to enter the workforce as well as those continuing to a four-year university. The college page links a program map and a catalog entry for planning courses, and students are encouraged to talk with a counselor to confirm how the degree fits their goals.
