Overview

The Anthropology Associate in Arts Degree at Fullerton College, in the Social Sciences division, offers a broad introduction to anthropology. It supplies the background knowledge that undergraduate anthropology majors need for university transfer and coursework. The required courses account for 10 of the units and include Biological Anthropology with its lab, Cultural Anthropology, and Introduction to Archaeology, with honors versions available for some. The degree emphasizes practical uses of anthropological skills and knowledge across a range of careers and presents anthropological perspectives as a lifelong tool for interpreting world events. Students therefore finish with both subject knowledge and a way of thinking they can apply outside the classroom. In the course list shown, the Biological Anthropology and Cultural Anthropology courses carry 3 units each and the Biological Anthropology Lab carries 1 unit. The degree requires a total of 19 to 21 units alongside the other graduation requirements.
