AA/AS in Communication and Media Studies

This Associate of Arts centers on speech communication. Students study public speaking, interpersonal communication, group work, argumentation and debate, building habits that matter in many workplaces. The plan is meant to carry students on to a university communication program or into roles in education, marketing communication, commerce, media and the legal field. Because receiving schools differ, learners are told to consult an adviser and the catalog of the school they hope to attend. Courses are meant to be taken in the suggested order. An academic cooperative course involves an internship and is taken in the semester a student plans to graduate. The learning goals ask graduates to deliver speeches fitted to audience and context, analyze what makes a competent communicator, write and speak well at work, collaborate in teams and construct debate arguments.
