AA/AS in Business Operations Support and Assistant Services

This two-year degree at Springfield Technical Community College trains students to work as administrative assistants, often the first person a visitor or caller meets in an office. The credential awarded is an Associate in Science, titled for office information technologies. Students build technical skills for running office operations and become comfortable with a range of software tools. Because workplace technology keeps changing, the program stresses adaptability and a willingness to keep learning. Interpersonal preparation is part of the plan too. Learners practice professional interaction with managers, colleagues, and clients, strengthen their writing and speaking, and develop problem-solving and critical thinking. They also learn to organize and communicate confidential material and information that must be handled quickly. Graduates are ready for administrative positions in many kinds of organizations.
