BA/BS in Philosophy and Religious Studies, Other

Stanford's undergraduate major combining Philosophy and Religious Studies is a joint program of the Philosophy and Religious Studies departments. It totals sixty units, divided roughly into thirds: a philosophy core, a religious studies core, and a choice between the general major and a special concentration. The philosophy side teaches students to reason carefully and critically about existence, knowledge and value, building skills in careful reading, analysis, argument and clear expression. The religious studies side brings several disciplines to bear on the history, literature, thought and practices of the world's religious traditions. The program works with centers on Buddhist, Jewish and Islamic studies and on ethics in society. The degree is a Bachelor of Arts, with an honors option. Further program details are published in the Stanford Bulletin.
