BA/BS in Anthropology

Anthropology at Stanford studies people and their societies wherever and whenever they have lived. It stands apart from other social sciences by giving central attention to all of human history and to every kind of society and culture, including those in historically marginalised parts of the world. The field pays close attention to diversity in social, cultural and biological terms, to questions of power and identity as well as inequality, and to how societies and living things change, whether for social, historical, ecological or biological reasons. It is presented as good preparation for a multicultural, globally connected world, and for careers in areas such as law, medicine, business, research and public service, as well as managing resources sustainably in ecological settings. Students can pursue bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. The undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts.
