This master's degree trains students to become speech-language pathologists at the University of Texas at Austin. Training combines classroom study with experiential learning, so students practice evaluation and remediation techniques across a full range of communication needs. The department is also strong in serving bilingual clients and in treatment that involves families.
Students may add a certificate for work with Spanish-English bilingual communities. A graduate advisor and graduate coordinator work together to help with course selection, registration and the coordination of coursework and clinical practicum. Admitted applicants must finish all prerequisite and certification-standard coursework before the program starts, and a leveling program is available. A student handbook is provided, and department leaders hold regular question-and-answer sessions with the cohort. Applications and materials are due in December.
