AA/AS in Biology, General

Students in this program study the life sciences with an emphasis on how research is done. Laboratory sessions teach microscope use, gathering data and designing experiments, while classes in genetics, ecology and microbiology supply the theory. The degree is meant for people who will finish a bachelor's at another school in biology, health science or environmental studies. It also helps those heading toward research, teaching or health care careers. This is a transfer-oriented associate of science degree at Tompkins Cortland Community College, built to cover the opening two years of a four-year program. It follows a defined course sequence, and students work with an advisor to match electives to the school they intend to attend. Graduation requires 60-63 credits and a 2.0 GPA or higher.
