Cert in Human Services, General

This certificate gives students practical grounding in helping individuals and families who need support. It develops professional awareness and the abilities used in community and social service workplaces, including communicating with people from varied backgrounds and linking clients to resources. It can lead directly to entry-level jobs, and it also works as an initial step toward a full human services degree at the college. Credits earned here may apply to a longer program when the student is ready. This is a certificate offered by Tompkins Cortland Community College, intended to build a specific credential that can be applied to a career. It follows a defined course sequence, and students consult an advisor when planning their courses. Graduation requires 30-31 credits and a 2.0 GPA or higher.
