BA/BS in Computer and Information Sciences, General

The computer science major is a Bachelor of Science for students who want to convert technical knowledge into working solutions, such as software products or analyses of complex systems. Students describe a close community in which they get to know professors and staff personally. The core builds fluency in several programming languages and in the structure of data, along with algorithms, the design of software, how computers are organized, database systems and networking. Electives and upper-level classes reach into machine learning and artificial intelligence. Projects and internships provide practical experience with the tools used in industry. The program aims to prepare graduates either to start working soon after finishing or to move into graduate study. International students can apply. Small class sizes mean students interact regularly with instructors and classmates.
