MA/MS in Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Other

This master's program prepares students for careers in medicine, public health or teaching by deepening their knowledge of the biomedical sciences. Some classes can be taken online, which helps people who must balance study and a job. Coursework covers topics such as medical microbiology and immunology and medical cell biology. A formal agreement with a college of osteopathic medicine in Alabama allows graduates nominated by faculty to enter its medical program, and students may take a course there first to strengthen their applications. Those who select the thesis route can seek teaching assistantships that provide a stipend each month plus remission of tuition once a research lab accepts them. Admission is rolling, and international students may apply. Admissions guidance suggests that prospective thesis students begin looking for an advisor early, although a match is not required before applying.
