BA/BS in Computer Engineering

Students in this major study the point where computing hardware meets the software that runs on it. The field blends electrical engineering with computer science, and it is taught at Union within a broader liberal arts setting. Classes cover robotics, embedded systems, network protocols, operating systems and the logic of digital design. Learners see how a device and its programs are planned together, so design and development are treated as connected pursuits rather than separate tracks. Graduates of this kind of preparation can move toward software, systems or engineering roles. The home unit is the Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering department, and ABET accredits the curriculum through its engineering commission. Undergraduates may declare it as a major or take it as a minor alongside another field of study.
