The Department of Psychology at the University of Florida awards both a master's (M.S.) and a doctorate (Ph.D.), but admits no one for a stand-alone master's, so the master's is earned en route to the doctorate.
Doctoral research spans developmental psychology, behavior analysis, neuroscience, social psychology and counseling psychology. The counseling training program has American Psychological Association accreditation and requires a year-long predoctoral internship. A co-major with the College of Education links psychology with research and evaluation methodology.
Applicants should have taken coursework in experimental methods and statistics, plus several core psychology topics. Degree requirements are described in the graduate degrees section of the University of Florida Graduate Catalog. Prospective applicants should contact the department for current application procedures, deadlines, funding information and faculty research interests before preparing their materials.
