Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Advertising is offered by the Department of Advertising in the College of Journalism and Communications. Its courses are presented as grounding for solving problems, thinking strategically and persuading audiences in marketplace communication, and the college is accredited in journalism and mass communication. Students complete 120 credits and choose between two specializations: Advertising Agency, which prepares students for agency roles such as account management, media planning, research, art direction and copywriting, and Persuasive Messaging. An online version also exists through UF Online. Before graduating, students must pass a portfolio review judged by two faculty members in the capstone course. Prospective applicants should consult the catalog entry for the full course list, critical-tracking milestones and any minors or certificates that pair well with the major, and speak with an advisor early to plan the sequence of courses.
