Students in plant and soil sciences can pursue a thesis or non-thesis master's degree, or move on to the doctorate. The program aims to prepare leaders for research, teaching and industry.
Training spans agricultural and environmental study. Topics include sustainable farming, how plants function, molecular methods, biotechnology, plant diseases, ecology, production technology, soils and the marketing of agricultural products.
Close mentoring from faculty and practical experience shape each student's course of study. Students who prefer a research-oriented path can complete a thesis, while those aiming for professional work may select the non-thesis format. Some admission arrangements are made at the request of an advisor. The graduate program offers training across agriculture and environmental topics, with faculty advising students as they plan coursework and projects.
