This undergraduate route readies students for careers linked to veterinary medicine, human health research, biotechnology, and farm operations. Coursework lays a foundation in cell biology, laboratory methods, and ethical reasoning, while teaching the daily care and management of animals. Learners select one of three concentrations: animal management, animal biotechnology, or equine science. Each path offers a different way into the animal sciences, from hands-on barn work to laboratory investigation.
Outside the classroom, students join research projects, summer placements, and internships. The program draws on a farm-based equine and livestock center and a second facility in South Deerfield, where undergraduates can work alongside faculty in immunology, genetics, and toxicology. Graduates are prepared for jobs in animal health, agriculture, and biomedical fields, or for further study in graduate school.
