Overview
Biology at Valparaiso University lets students study living systems through research, fieldwork, and close work with faculty. Laboratory courses range from molecular biology to environmental science, and trips to nearby Indiana Dunes National Park allow study of rare ecosystems.
Students interested in health careers benefit from a cadaver lab and demanding human physiology courses that prepare them for medical school and other healthcare paths. Five degree pathways allow students to tailor their studies, and interdisciplinary minors in forensic science and neurobiology combine biology with chemistry and psychology.
Students can choose a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of science, and the majors begin with the Valparaiso University Experience core. Career advising and active research opportunities support graduates headed to graduate school or jobs in science.
