BA/BS in Architecture

Architecture at Virginia Tech is taught through design studios where students debate ideas and build discipline and independence. The program wants graduates who can make sense of complicated problems and who have the judgment to make a lasting difference. This is a five-year professional course of study carrying accreditation from the national architectural accrediting board. Completing it earns a professional bachelor's degree, after which graduates can begin an internship under a licensed architect and, once that is complete, sit for the licensing examination. Architecture draws on neighboring programs, including industrial design, interior design and the landscape architecture major. Admission is limited by the available space, the program is for first-year applicants only, and it does not accept transfer students. A contact in Cowgill Hall is listed.
