The finance major at Wayne State's Mike Ilitch School of Business is a business administration degree covering managing money, investing and making financial decisions. Students choose between a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science; both follow the same finance curriculum, but the B.A. adds foreign language coursework.
Class formats include daytime and evening sessions, on-campus classes in Detroit and online courses. The curriculum covers financial markets and intermediaries, investment risk and return, international money and capital markets, bank management and futures and options.
Coursework is complemented by mentoring, internships and other experiences focused on students. Students are encouraged to ask an advisor which degree type suits them. Qualified students may also look at the Accelerated Graduate Enrollment program, which links the bachelor's degree with graduate study.
