The Master of Science in Accounting at Wayne State's Mike Ilitch School of Business is a selective, advanced program open to those whose bachelor's degree is in business or accounting. It is aimed at those working toward becoming licensed Certified Public Accountants and offers three concentrations.
Classes meet on campus in downtown Detroit, with select online courses to fit different schedules. The curriculum combines foundational, core and elective courses with a capstone on corporate and personal accounting, tax, financial planning, reporting and ethics.
Full-time students finish within four to five semesters and part-time students in six to seven semesters. Faculty with professional experience teach the courses, and the structure is meant to prepare students for the CPA exam. Applicants should compare the concentrations before settling on a course plan.
