BA/BS in Anthropology

Anthropology explores human cultures and biology across time and around the world. The major takes a broad four-field approach that includes cultural, biological and linguistic anthropology as well as archaeology. Full-time faculty teach the courses, and the curriculum favors practical learning in classrooms, laboratories and the field, supported by extracurricular activities. The program encourages students to look beyond familiar surroundings, build cross-cultural understanding and prepare for many careers. Every student completes a core of six courses, earning at least a C in each. Students then complete at least one three-course concentration, with biological anthropology and cultural anthropology among the choices, and fill out the major with electives. At least half of the thirty-one hours must be in upper-division courses, and the major sits within a bachelor of arts.
