BA/BS in Sociology

Sociology deepens students' understanding of social life, including what leads people to behave as they do in groups, organizations, societies and cultures, and what follows from that behavior. The degree offers a broad base for many careers by building practical skills. The major needs at least thirty-two credit hours, and half of all hours earned must come from upper-division courses numbered 300 to 499. Students must also complete a minor, a certificate or a second major. The degree starts with core courses taken by every student and then moves into more advanced coursework. It sits within a bachelor of arts degree that requires at least 120 hours overall. The department can be reached by email for further information.
