This degree covers the biology behind modern medicine, biotechnology and disease treatment. Students investigate living systems and learn to engineer and translate that knowledge into practical results. Options include a concentration, a minor in fields such as chemistry, data science, mathematics or business, or a free choice of electives. A five-year path leads to both a bachelor's and a master's in biotechnology. The major is STEM-designated, which may let international graduates stay longer to work in the United States under Optional Practical Training. Alumni destinations listed on the page include large pharmaceutical firms and a major hospital. Applicants choose among early decision, early action and regular decision rounds.
