BA/BS in Business/Commerce, General

Choosing a major can feel difficult, particularly within a field as wide as business. Xavier's undeclared business program gives new students time, support and resources for discovering which direction fits them best. Students are not required to commit right away. Instead, they begin their studies on solid footing, look at the available areas and learn what each one involves before choosing. The program is meant to remove pressure from the decision while still moving students forward. Courses taken during the exploratory period lay a base for whichever business specialty is chosen later, so time is not lost. The approach suits applicants who know they are interested in business but are unsure whether marketing, finance, management or another area appeals most. Advisors and faculty help them compare options, reflect on strengths and interests, and plan a path. By the end of the exploration, students should be positioned to select a major with confidence and to pursue it with a clear sense of purpose and an advantage over peers who decided hastily.
