PGCert in Computer Science

This non-degree graduate program prepares teachers who teach or plan to teach computer science in schools. Completing it and passing the Ohio 054 exam allows the endorsement to be added to an existing teaching license. Courses run across two semesters, starting with data management and programming principles. Coursework includes data management, programming principles, information systems theory, networking, information assurance, computing in education and a practicum with portfolio. Participants may also apply to the university's Computing Information Systems master's degree and pursue both credentials together. Applicants need a valid Ohio teaching license, a bachelor's from an accredited institution, official transcripts and to meet general Graduate Studies requirements. The certificate coordinator can answer questions about enrollment.
