Sacred Heart Junior College

Sacred Heart Junior College is a Catholic tertiary institution in San Ignacio, Cayo District, owned and managed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belize and Belmopan.

Established in 1999, it was created to extend post-secondary education opportunities to students in western Belize who previously had to travel to Belize City or abroad for college-level study. The college awards two-year Associate Degrees, with original concentrations in Environmental Science, Marketing, International Business, Tourism and Computer Science; it has since broadened into Business, Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Natural Resources Management, Computer Technician studies, General Studies and teacher-preparation tracks such as Primary Education and Early Childhood Education.

Some of its education-focused coursework is articulated for transfer into bachelor's-level study at partner universities abroad. Operating alongside its secondary-school counterpart on the same campus, Sacred Heart Junior College is recognised by Belize's education authorities as a degree-granting junior college and is one of the principal providers of tertiary education in the Cayo District, complementing Galen University's presence in the same region.
