Overview
St.
John's College is a Catholic educational institution in Belize City operated by the Jesuits (Society of Jesus), tracing its origins to 1887. What began as a boys' secondary school expanded in 1964 into a junior college division, aligning its curriculum with United States community-college standards and joining the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges; that division has long awarded two-year Associate Degrees across arts and science disciplines.
In October 2021 the Ministry of Education approved the institution to offer baccalaureate and graduate programmes, an authorization it had pursued for roughly four decades, and the resulting university-college division began admitting students in August 2023. St.
John's now operates as three linked divisions, serving secondary, junior-college and university-level students from its Landivar Campus on Princess Margaret Drive, with total enrollment reported in the low thousands across all levels.
As one of Belize's oldest and most established tertiary providers, it is recognised by the national education authority and sits within the country's Catholic education network alongside its sister institution, Sacred Heart Junior College.
