Founded 1932 in Guilin as Guangxi Provincial Normal Vocational School .
Changed name to Guangxi Provincial Guilin Teachers College 1942 and then to National Guilin Teachers College 1943. Relocated to Nanning and renamed National Nanning Teachers College 1946.
Moved back to Guilin and merged with Guangxi University 1950 to shape Guangxi University Teachers College 1953. Acquired present title 1983.
