Founded 1956 as Nanjing Sericulture School.
Creation of the Nanjing Sericulture Economy Institute builded upon Nanjing Sericulture School 1981. Renamed as Nanjing Institute of Economics 1993.
Incorporated Nanjing Supplies School 1999. Jiangsu Higher Vocational School of Economics and Finance, Jiangsu Economics and Business School for Cadres merged into Nanjing Institute of Economics 2000.
