During the Sino-Japanese war became Guanghua University Chengdu branch 1938. Became Sichuan College of Economics and Finance 1952-53.

Following several mergers and demergers the Sichuan College of Economics and Finance was restored 1978. Acquired present status and title 1985.

Governed by the People’s Bank of China (PBC) until 2000, when the governance was transferred to the Ministry of Education.
