Caribbean Medical University

Caribbean Medical University (CMU) is a private, for-profit medical school with its campus on Pater Euwensweg in Willemstad, Curaçao.

Founded by Radek Lewkowski, who serves as its President and CEO, CMU trains students for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree through a US-curriculum model split across a pre-medical phase, Basic Science study on the Curaçao campus and Clinical Science rotations completed mainly at affiliated hospitals in the United States and Canada. The Government of Curaçao has granted CMU a permit to operate as an educational institution on the island and recognises the school through its Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health, allowing graduates to pursue medical licensure in Curaçao, the United States and Canada.

CMU holds institutional accreditation from the Agency for the Accreditation of Educational Programs and Organizations (AAEPO), is recognised by the World Federation for Medical Education, and is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools maintained jointly by WFME and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research. This listing, together with recognition from the World Health Organization and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, lets CMU graduates sit the USMLE and apply to US residency programmes through the Electronic Residency Application Service, while recognition from Canada's Medical Council and CaRMS opens a parallel path to Canadian licensure.

Classes run roughly 30 students, with three intakes a year in January, May and September.
