Established in 1981, the Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta) is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Surakarta (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Central Java.
Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) is a large-sized coeducational Indonesian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion.
