Los Angeles Valley College is a public community college in Los Angeles that opened in 1949 and belongs to the Los Angeles Community College District.
It serves a student body of roughly 12,600 and offers lower-division coursework that students can complete before transferring to a four-year institution, alongside career certificates and associate degrees. Academic offerings are grouped into seven pathways: Arts, Media and Design; Business, Entrepreneurship and Law; Health and Public Service; Humanities and Communication; Manufacturing, Electronics and Construction; Science, Technology, Engineering and Math; and Social and Behavioral Sciences.
The college also runs a small number of baccalaureate-level upper-division courses, which carry a higher per-unit fee than standard classes. International students also pay a $25 SEVIS fee and a $50 application processing fee.
Federal aid such as Pell Grants, Federal Work-Study and Direct Loans is available to eligible students who file the FAFSA. New students follow a sequence of applying, completing the FAFSA, online orientation, math and English self-placement, counselling and an educational plan, and then registering for classes.
The Admissions and Records office is in the Student Services Building and offers both in-person and online help.
