Overview

Athabasca University's Master of Business Administration is a graduate-level, fully online program built around 48 credits of coursework. Phase 1 comprises six core courses, an orientation component, and a comprehensive exam; Phase 2 lets students choose between four advanced courses plus three electives and an applied project, or six electives, before a six-credit capstone course. Most courses run eight weeks and carry three credits, with some six-credit electives extending to ten weeks. The program is accredited by AACSB International and offers several elective-based routes oriented toward executives, accountants, health-sector leaders, and supply chain managers. Classes are held in small groups of roughly eight to ten students, and case studies draw on real workplace scenarios. The program admits at three points each year, in January, May, and August, and can be completed in as little as 1.5 years on an accelerated basis or over 2.5 to 3 years through the regular route. It is designed for experienced managers and professionals looking to build advanced leadership skills; applicants without an undergraduate degree may still apply if they have at least eight years of managerial experience.
