Admission Requirements: Athabasca University admits this program on an open-entry basis: the program page states that there are no formal admission requirements for this program beyond being 16 years of age or older, and enrolment is year-round with no set start dates. Applicants who already hold a degree in administration, business, commerce or management, or a degree with a related major or concentration from Athabasca or another university, cannot apply to the Bachelor of Commerce, Indigenous Business Major. Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency with one of IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, TOEFL iBT 80 with a minimum essay score of 20 (or, on the scale used for tests taken from Jan. 21, 2026 onward, an overall score of 4 with at least 3.5 in Reading, Listening and Writing and 4 in Speaking), PTE Academic 59 overall with no skill below 51, Duolingo 105 overall with no band below 75, CAEL 60, or MELAB 80, or by presenting 15 transferable credits from a recognized English-speaking post-secondary institution or Athabasca's own English Language Proficiency Program at an overall average of 75%.
