The Information Technology - Networking Technician Apprenticeship trains signed apprentices in microcomputer applications and advanced networking. All in-school theory instruction is delivered online, while the hands-on component is completed on the job with the apprentice's employer. The program is organized into two levels, each requiring roughly one and a half years to complete: Level 1 and Level 2 each total 360 hours of instruction, for a program length of about three years overall. Coursework builds skills in network installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance, preparing apprentices for the Ontario Certificate of Qualification exam in the trade. Because the theory portion is online, apprentices can complete coursework remotely while continuing to work in the field. Enrolment requires an active registration as a signed apprentice with Skilled Trades Ontario before applying to the program.
