Offered by Cégep de Drummondville in Drummondville, Canada, Diploma in Sciences humaines et Musique is a diploma in Music programme. The programme runs for 3 years. Teaching is in French. Tuition is CAD 3,740 per year for local students.
This Double DEC combines the pre-university Sciences humaines program with the pre-university Musique program, so students at Cégep de Drummondville can earn both diplomas over three years instead of choosing between them. The social-science side covers subjects such as psychology, economics, history and geography, the standard preparation for university programs in the humanities, social sciences, law or business. The music side develops performance technique and music theory through applied lessons and ensemble work, geared toward conservatory-level training or university music studies. Because the two programs run concurrently rather than one after the other, the course load is heavier than for a single pre-university DEC, and admission requires meeting the entrance requirements — including any audition — of both individual programs. On completion, students receive two separate Diplômes d'études collégiales. The program is intended for students who want to pursue serious musical training while also keeping a social-science or humanities university path open.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This Double DEC's own page states three admission conditions: meet Cegep de Drummondville's general college admission conditions, present a school record with a grade above 70% in Secondary 5 French, and meet the particular requirements of the two chosen programmes. Sciences humaines's own page requires, for its general profile, Mathematics CST from Secondary 4 (or Mathematics 416), or for its mathematics-heavy profile, Mathematics TS/SN from Secondary 5 (or Mathematics 526). Musique's own page selects candidates by audition, with upgrading courses possible if weaknesses are found; both components are non contingente. No IELTS or TOEFL score is published. Intake is in the Fall term.
