At Centennial College in Toronto, Canada, Diploma in Software Engineering Technician is offered as a diploma in Software Engineering programme. The programme runs for 4 semesters, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 19,167 per year (CAD 2,775 per year for local students).
Over two years, the diploma gives students a practical foundation in modern software development that covers material equivalent to the Software Engineering Technology advanced diploma's opening portion, spanning two years, with an emphasis on job-ready coding and AI-assisted development skills. Students write and test code using C#, Java, Python, JavaScript and TypeScript, build full-stack web applications with React and Node.js, and work with relational and NoSQL databases including MongoDB, Oracle and SQL Server. The curriculum also covers object-oriented programming, interface design, version control with Git and GitHub, software testing and quality assurance, agile project management fundamentals, introductory cloud-native and DevOps concepts, and foundational artificial intelligence and machine learning ideas, with AI tools used throughout to support coding, debugging, documentation and testing. A final-semester capstone project has students build a complete, portfolio-ready application, and graduates may go on to the Software Engineering Technology advanced diploma to continue their studies.
