Overview
Arts visuels is a two-year pre-university DEC at Collège Lionel-Groulx (fall or winter entry) built around a multidisciplinary studio practice. Students work through the stages of a creative project -- idea research, preliminary sketches, execution, and presentation -- while building skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, art history, and digital arts such as photography and video. Coursework includes building a digital portfolio, which also introduces basic website-creation skills. Finished work is shown in the college's own Espace Création + Exposition space, where students can meet visiting artists, and the program includes exhibitions, competitions, and organized visits to museums, galleries, and artist-run centres in Montreal and elsewhere in Quebec, with the possibility of a cultural trip to New York or Italy. There are no special admission requirements, and the program welcomes students regardless of prior experience with artistic media. It aims to develop imagination, creativity, analytical and synthesis skills, manual dexterity, and teamwork, and suits students curious about visual arts and art history who want a broad technical grounding across several media before pursuing further study or practice in the arts.

Admission Requirements: The program page states explicitly that there are no special admission conditions beyond the college's general ones: "il n'y a pas de conditions particulieres d'admission pour ce programme." Applicants therefore qualify with a DES, a DEP plus Secondary 5 language of instruction, Secondary 5 second language and Secondary 4 mathematics, or training and experience the college judges sufficient, and must show adequate spoken and written French, with anyone lacking a francophone-sector DES required to pass the Bright test at a minimum of 3.7 in the written part, the oral part, and overall. The program has no enrolment cap and admits in both the fall and winter sessions. Applications are submitted online through SRAM.

Collège Lionel-Groulx does not publish a dedicated international-admissions page of its own; international applicants would follow SRAM's system-wide window, published as 15 March 2026 to 14 March 2027 for Fall 2027 entry, though the college has not confirmed this itself. Admission proceeds round by round on a rolling basis after each equal-consideration date until seats are filled. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
