This thesis-based Master of Science (MSc) in Earth Sciences advances students' knowledge of earth and environmental sciences through independent, original research guided by a faculty supervisor. Research areas span marine geology and geophysics, Appalachian geology, isotope geology, economic geology, petrology, geochemistry and mineralogy, geophysics, sedimentology, micropaleontology, coastal sedimentation, structural geology, metamorphism, and tectonics. The program runs a minimum of two years of full-time study, with part-time study also available, and is delivered in person on the Halifax campus. Students develop and defend an original thesis as the core requirement of the degree. Applicants must meet the Faculty of Graduate Studies' minimum admission requirements as well as program-specific requirements set by the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Graduates pursue careers across academia, government geological surveys, and the resource and environmental consulting sectors.
