Anthropology Associate Degree

The Anthropology Associate Degree at Douglas College is a two-year, 60-credit, four-semester credential examining human biology, language, culture, and social organization across different societies, past and present. Coursework develops observational, record-keeping, critical-thinking, and analytical skills through comparative study of the thoughts, behaviours, material products, and social organization of cultural groups, supplemented by volunteer research opportunities. The credential relates to further study or entry-level work connected to museums, conservation, archaeology, cultural resource management, Indigenous relations, forensics, government, and non-governmental organizations. An optional Co-operative Education stream allows students to alternate semesters of study with paid, full-time work terms; participation requires planning two semesters in advance through the Co-op Office. Courses selected according to the BC Transfer Guide allow graduates to enter the third year of a four-year bachelor's degree program at British Columbia research universities such as SFU, UBC, and UVic. Admission follows Open Enrolment under the college's General College Admission Requirements.
