Overview
The Academic Foundations for Potential Health Information Management Applicants has 10 university-transferable courses that will prepare you for entrance into the BSc HIM program. Once you've completed all required courses with a minimum grade of C+, you'll receive priority registration for entrance to the BSc HIM program. It is important to note that completion of this certificate does not guarantee admission to the BSc HIM program.

Admission Requirements: Beyond Douglas College's General College Admission Requirements, this certificate requires English 12, English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 with a minimum grade of "B" (or an acceptable substitution); Biology 11 or 12, Life Sciences 11, or Anatomy and Physiology 12 with a minimum grade of "B"; and Foundations of Math 11 or 12 with a minimum grade of "B". Applicants may be required to attend a non-academic interview with a representative of the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BScHIM) programme for additional information or academic advising. Completing this certificate gives priority admission to the BScHIM cohort but does not guarantee a seat; entry to BScHIM itself separately requires the 30 required credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.33 and a minimum grade of "C+" (65%) in each course. Applicants must also meet the College's English Language Proficiency requirement (for example IELTS Academic overall 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 83).
