Overview

This four-year honours degree at Humber Polytechnic's Longo Faculty of Business, delivered at the Lakeshore campus, is accredited by the Law Society of Ontario as a paralegal education program. Coursework combines legal theory and practical application across ethics and professional responsibility, negotiation and mediation, evidence, advocacy, tort law, contract law, insurance law and employment law, preparing students with the legal foundation to pursue licensing as a paralegal. Eight elective courses let students study social science, humanities and science topics alongside the legal curriculum, reflecting the program's emphasis on understanding a client's background and circumstances as part of proper representation. The program also includes a work-integrated learning component and begins with a common-platform structure shared with related programs. It suits students aiming for a career as a licensed paralegal representing clients in venues such as the Ontario Small Claims Court and Provincial Offences Court.
