Cert in Animal Assisted Wellness

The Animal Assisted Wellness Certificate is Canada's first English college-level certificate in animal assisted wellness, delivered fully online in an asynchronous, part-time format. Coursework covers the integration of animals into different practice settings, the law and ethics of animal assisted wellness, counselling techniques, and animal wellness and behaviour. The final course includes a three-day, in-person clinical experience at the Dreamcatcher Animal Assisted Wellness Academy in Alberta, giving students hands-on practice alongside working animal-assisted wellness practitioners. The program is aimed at professionals already working in human services or related wellness fields who want to add animal-assisted approaches to their practice, and it can also be completed by applicants with relevant field experience rather than a related credential.
