The Master of Arts & Education is designed for teachers of French and French immersion who want to deepen their knowledge of Francophone literature and culture alongside their teaching practice. Half of the required courses are taught through the Faculty of Education and half through the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures. Course-based and project-based options are offered, and the program can be completed in two years of full-time study, with flexible part-time scheduling also available; many courses can be taken online. Admission requires a Bachelor of Education with a focus in French, or a Bachelor of Arts in French together with a Bachelor of Education, a minimum 'B' standing or 70 percent average in the last 30 courses attempted, two years of experience teaching French, and a level of French proficiency satisfactory to the admissions committee, assessed through a writing sample and possibly an interview. Intake is in the Fall term of even-numbered years, and the program is currently not considering applications.
