Overview
When I hired Kim (Law Clerk program graduate), my office was going through a great deal of change. I did not exactly know how my co-op student would fit in amidst the chaos. To my great surprise, Kim demonstrated great enthusiasm for administrative tasks which alleviated my concern. Eventually, she was able to transition to more complicated files. Within two months, she was demonstrating incredible awareness of client needs and legal challenges in family law. With her support and the foundational education in family law and legal research provided by Niagara College, I was able to add contested family law as an area of practice to my firm. I can’t imagine doing this area of law without her and I am so grateful for her support.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, with any Grade 12 English at the College (C) or University (U) level; Grade 11 Canadian Politics and Citizenship, Grade 12 Challenge and Change in Society, Grade 11 Mathematics, and Grade 11 Understanding Canadian Law are recommended but not required. International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency; Niagara College's institution-wide scale for undergraduate diploma/certificate programs applies: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band under 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 with a minimum of 20 in Writing and Speaking, Duolingo English Test 105 or above with no subscore below 95, PTE Academic 58 or above with no skill below 53, or CAEL 60 with no band under 50. Students arrange their own transportation for co-op placements; no portfolio, interview, or minimum GPA is stated.

Application Deadline:Niagara College's equal-consideration deadlines apply equally to domestic and international applicants to competitive programs, published for the 2026-2027 cycle: for September 2026 entry the date was 1 February 2026, for January 2027 entry it is 5 June 2026, and for May 2027 entry it is 30 October 2026, each followed roughly three weeks later by a document deadline and an earliest-offer date. All other programs, the majority, are processed first-come, first-served starting each November for both domestic and international applicants, with offers issued until seats fill or the term begins. Niagara does not publish which named programs currently hold competitive status. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
