Alberta Health Care Aide Certificate

The Alberta Health Care Aide Certificate is a one-year program at Northwestern Polytechnic that prepares students to support patients and residents with daily living activities in community, hospital, and long-term care settings. Coursework covers basic health services delivered under the direction of regulated health professionals, alongside a Work Integrated Learning placement at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. The program is delivered through a combination of distance and on-campus instruction. Graduates are prepared to work as health care aides supporting residents and patients with personal care and daily activities across community, hospital, and long-term care environments. The certificate follows the Alberta Health Care Aide provincial curriculum and is open to international students. It meets the qualification standard used across Alberta's continuing care sector, and graduates are prepared to begin work immediately upon completion in publicly funded and private care settings.
