This certificate covers multidisciplinary foundations of occupational health and safety (OHS), including prevention, workers'-compensation case management, and financing. Students develop strategic OHS-management competencies drawn from labour law, ergonomics, psychology, and occupational hygiene, and learn to implement, evaluate, and manage OHS policies within an organization. Coursework addresses applying the OHS legislative framework, identifying, analyzing, evaluating, and preventing workplace risks, managing occupational-injury files, assessing the financial impact of OHS issues, and collecting, analyzing, and communicating quantitative and qualitative OHS data. The 30-credit undergraduate certificate is taught by instructors from the field, includes a possible internship, and is offered evenings and weekends, mainly at the Montreal and Virtual campuses with some sections at Laval and Brossard. It can be completed full-time or part-time and links to a DEC-to-certificate bridge and a baccalauréat par cumul in the OHS field.
